The 911 Rural Addressing office administers the county's rural address system in coordination with the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) Emergency Communications Department. A new address is assigned every 5.28 feet along a road — allowing up to 1,000 unique addresses per mile. This ensures 9-1-1 calls are routed to the correct Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) with accurate location data.

Authority derives from Senate Bill 1091 (1989) and Texas Transportation Code Section 251.013.
