Marriage licenses
Visit the County Clerk’s Office to apply for a marriage license. No appointment is necessary, and licenses are issued from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both applicants must be present with valid identification.
A marriage license is $81, or $21 with a valid Texas Premarital Education Certificate. An informal (common-law) marriage license is $46.
Before your ceremony
Couples must have a valid Texas marriage license at the time of their appointment, and no ceremony will be conducted without the presentation of a valid Texas marriage license on the day of the appointment. Licenses are valid after 72 hours of receipt and expire after 90 days. Exceptions may apply under Texas Family Code Chapter 2.
