Tax Assessor-Collector

Vehicle registration, title transfers, boat registration, and property tax payments for Caldwell County residents. Property taxes are paid at the Luling office, not at the Lockhart courthouse office.

Important: where to pay, and where to protest

Property tax payments are not accepted at the Lockhart courthouse office. Pay at the Tax Assessor-Collector's Luling office, 505 E. Fannin, Luling, TX 78648, or at the Caldwell County Appraisal District, 211 Bufkin Lane, Lockhart, TX 78644. Appraisal values and protests are handled by the Appraisal District, not by the Tax Office — see caldwellcad.org.

Vehicle Registration & Renewal

Register or renew vehicle registration at either office or online.

• Both Lockhart and Luling office locations

• Bring: proof of insurance, inspection (if required), payment

Vehicle Title Transfers

Transfer a vehicle title after purchase. Must be completed within 30 days to avoid penalty.

• Must complete within 30 days of purchase
• Bring: signed title, odometer disclosure, proof of insurance, payment
• Title Application Form 130-U required

Property Tax Payments

Pay Caldwell County property taxes online, by mail, phone, or in person.

• Due January 31 each year
• Penalty and interest begin February 1
• Installment plan available for over-65 and disabled homeowners
• Pay online at caldwellcad.org

Boat & Motor Registration

All boats operated in Texas must be registered with the state. Register or renew at either office.

• Texas Parks & Wildlife manages boat titles

Voter Registration

Voter registration for Caldwell County is handled by the Caldwell County Elections Office, Scott Annex Building, 1403 Blackjack St., Suite A, Lockhart — (512) 668-4347. You can also register online at VoteTexas.gov.
