Commissioners approved a one-year agreement between Caldwell County and Air Methods LLC. In the event of a crash occurring in Caldwell County that requires patients to be transported by air to trauma centers, Air Methods will transport the patient at no cost. The company will bill the county $800 for every patient whom it transports. Under the agreement, the county’s maximum responsibility for cost sharing services will not exceed $131, 075. The new arrangement replaces a previous agreement between the county and PHI Air Medical. “Caldwell County’s partnership with the Air Methods Program is a cost effective, efficient setup that will help safeguard lives in the event of critical injuries from rare but serious accidents while also saving tax dollars. We’re pleased to make this feature available that will help facilitate better health outcomes while saving families from the financial burden that can often follow after being airlifted to trauma centers.”
